When was my last post? 1 week from now. Since the high fever on Sunday, still sick but feel much better! An unforgettable week! First, my burned tongue turns to 7 Canker Sore on the tip of my tongue, very painful. I had 2 Days fever and today I lost my voice in the morning... PLUS "No water in the apt for almost 4days". Oh well, I started making dinner again. Always feel good when I'm in the kitchen. Let's the story begin.

An experimental day

It’s an experimental day in my kitchen. I made waffle for breakfast from the sourdough starter. Have to say the pancakes taste much better. From the same recipe two days ago, I made 7 waffles today. They are very light and crunchy, makes me think about the "soda cracker" I had in Taiwan.

Want to make chicken soup with wild rice today.
Wild Rice, Barley, Chicken Broth, Chicken Breast, Carrot, Celery, Yellow Onion, Yam, Bay Leaf, Thyme, Sea Salt and White Pepper. It’s such a wonderful combination delicious and nutritious.
30 mins after I turned off the fire, I open the lid. I can’t believe my eye. I can't see any soup. Rice and Barley are all over the place. Scoop some out and add more broth into the pot. I saved my soup today. I’ll have to have the same soup for the rest of the week.

Today’s Salad: Romaine Heart, Baby Arugula, Pickled Anise, Sweet Orange Pepper, Jumbo Strawberry.
Garlic Bread:
1/2 organic white pizza dough(from Whole Food Market), 8 cloves fresh chopped garlic, sea Salt.
Oven 350F for about 15 mins

Creative + Love = Delicious = Mikey like it!

8 kinds of vegetables
3 Kinds of fruit
2 Kinds of Grain
2 people... we're getting married!

A good Day!

Striped Pangasius

Finally found another animal that Mikey would eat. "Striped Pangasius".
couple days ago I tried to add to my Miso soup with baby seaweed and green scallion.

Today, we had left over Chow Mei Fun for dinner. a slice of pan fried Striped Pangasius on top.
seasoning with ginger, garlic, dill, salt and pepper.

Going to Carnegie Hall for Minnesota Orchestra tonight. All dressed up... Bye~

Sunday, February 28, 2010

Had a just OK, not great Chow Mei Fun for lunch at the Chinese New Year Performance in Hackensack New Jersey. I can't wait to have a better version to renew the okay experience. Back home, Mikey didn't eat lunch. He has been study 55 the whole time. Dinner tonight is Chow Mei Fun, Matzo ball soup and vegetables.

Chow Mei Fun:
1 pack of mei fun. (soak in the water about 30 minutes, break into short pieces)
1 carrot (cut thin stripes)
1 onion (cut thin stripes)
4 scallion (cut thin stripes)
2 sticks of celery (cut thin stripes)
Chinese chive (cut thin stripes)
chicken breast
wild jumbo white shrimp
2 eggs
ginger powder, garlic powder, dry tarragon, mild curry, dry red pepper. black bean sauce, hoisin sauce, black pepper and sea salt.

Matzo Ball Soup:
Ball- I trust the direction on my Matzo Ball Mix box. I substituted vegetable oil to water, because Mikey doesn't like fat. I added garlic powder and dry tarragon into my mixer, a piece of wild jumbo white shrimp in the center as a surprise for today.
Soup- Chicken broth with 3 carrots, white pepper

Vegetable: (simply is the best!)
Broccoli and sweet yellow pepper. Nothing fancy, cook with water, sea salt and pepper.

On the Table:
"Why do juice people never stuff things in a jumbo matzo ball?" I asked Mikey.
He said something really funny. But we can't remember now. Life goes on... do not get stress from the little thing like this. I was laugh hard.

Cook my babies!

Finally have chance to use my babies for cooking in a beautiful Sunday Morning. I have been feeding them since Tuesday. Equal weight of water and flour. They look so happy, bubbling in the jar. My dear single cell babies. Following my teacher Nathan Leamy's recipe. Let's make some sourdough pancakes.
Sourdough Pancakes: (2~3 people)
1 egg
1cup sourdough starter
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 tea spoon salt

What on the table:
ginger people ginger syrup & Tader Joe's honey
two oranges
coffee

I really like this sourdough pancakes. They are very light and chewy. Mikey Like it too. Big Success!
